As part of the organization of the upcoming Ghana corporate games, below are some suggested rules and regulations for the tournament. These rules aim to ensure Fair Play, Sportsmanship, and an Enjoyable experience for all participating teams.
When accepted and adopted, all teams and officials are expected to adhere to these guidelines throughout the tournament.
1. Tournament Format
i. The tournament will follow the round robin format including group stages and knock out stages.
2. Team Composition
i. Each participating teams must consist of 11 players on the field.
ii. Teams are permitted 5 substitutions during a game.
3. Game Duration
i. Matches would be played in two halves, each lasting for 45 minutes. Additional few minutes may be added per the discretions of the referees owing to some delays experienced in the match due to fouls and possible injuries.
ii. Half time break is set for minutes.
4. Kit & Equipment
i. Participating teams must appear in their distinct football jerseys and protective shin guards.
ii. If the colors of the teams’ jerseys are the same or similar, one of the teams will be determined by lottery and will wear a vest.
5. Offsides
i. Standard soccer offsides rules apply.
6. Fouls and Free Kicks
i. Fouls will result in free kicks for the opposing team.
ii. Yellow and red card may be issued for varying degrees of foul play.
7. Substitutions
i. Substitutions can be made during stoppages with the approval of the referee.
8. Penalty Kicks
i. Penalty kicks would be awarded for fouls committed within the penalty area.
9. Tie Breakers
i. In the event of a draw, the teams are awarded points each and goal tallies are recorded used as varying determinant of qualification while the tournament proceeds.
ii. If two or more teams are tied on points in group matches, the following criteria are taken into consideration, respectively.
– The ranking is determined by the points table made according to the results of the matches played by the teams with the same points. In the table, first the points, then the goal difference and, if necessary, the excess goals are looked at.
-If the tie is still intact, the average in the general scorecard is first looked at. Then the team that scores the most goals is looked at.
-If the tie still persists, a fair-play table is created from the yellow and red cards seen in the group matches (yellow card is one penalty point, red card is three penalty points). The team with the lowest penalty points is ranked higher.
-If equality persists despite all these conditions, a draw is held between the relevant teams. If the qualifying round matches end in a draw, the team that will advance to the next round will be determined directly by penalty kicks.
10. Discipline
i. Accumulated yellow cards may results in the suspension from subsequent matches.
ii. Red cards lead to immediate expulsion from the current match, with potential additional consequences.
11. Other Terms
– The team that does not have at least 5 players on the field at match time will be defeated by default (5-0). Teams must be ready thirty minutes before match time.
If a team is left with 3 players in the match, it will be defeated by forfeit.
– Football game rules apply to matters not included in the articles.
– Coaches and players are obliged to know the rules.
– The sole authority regarding all matters is the Organizing Committee. The Organizing Committee can make any changes regarding the league.
– Teams participating in the football tournament are deemed to have read and accepted all the rules.
These set of rules is designed to provide a framework for fair competition while maintaining a positive and fun tournament. All teams, players and officials are expected to familiarize themselves with and adhere to these rules throughout the duration of the tournament.
